The mission of The Patchwork Forest is to take left-over pieces of land, that lay scattered across the landscape and turning them into inspiring oases for art, culture and the appreciation of nature. Each “patch” of the forest will have its own unique theme and all of them will be free for everyone to visit and spend time in.

In the summer of 2023 The Patchwork Forest became a physical reality, with the purchase of the first plot of land on the Danish island of Falster on Stavreby Strandvej 2, 4874 Gedser thanks to the support of Guldborgsund Municipality. Hopefully over time this will become both a large-scale living artwork, as well as a new platform for activities that celebrate biodiversity and creativity, spanning several plots of land.

Since then several projects have been completed as part of The Patchwork Forest, large and small, including but not limited to: Establishing a wildflower meadow, building a biodiversity fence, site-specific art exhibition by contemporary artist Kristoffer Ørum, the creation of living and growing artworks Stine Linnemann (Willow Way and Knots), hosting several community centered events and last but not least 2026 will be dedicated to the project The Famous Pear Tree.

Thanks to Guldborgsund Municipaly, The Danish Arts Foundation, Grosserer L. F. Foghts Foundation and everyone who has volunteered or otherwise pitched in to support The Patchwork Forest over the years.
