Sit Down – Stand Up consists of a large picnic blanket and a range of cushions for climate activists, who strike every Friday in front of the Danish Parliament. The initiative was started by climate activist Ida Dalsgaard Nicolaisen, who inspired by Greta Thunberg had decided to start her own Friday climate strike for grown-ups.

The project name is a play on the fact, that the activists are fighting for climate justice – standing up for change – by sitting down.

The cushions are made from a fabric consisting of upcycled textile fibers and the stuffing is salvaged materials. The large padded picnic blanket is made to use for various outdoor events, also beyond activism. It is made from the same type of fabric as the cushions, the stuffing is also salvaged materials and both the backing and the pattern are made from left-over materials from other projects.

A big thank you to the kind activists, who volunteered their time for this photoshoot and a special thanks to Charlotte Bodil Hermansen for her help with manufacturing the large picnic blanket at her studio.
